May is Here: Let’s Keep Growing with STEM!

It’s a brand new month—hello, May! That means it’s time to start fresh, try new things, and keep growing. All year long, we’ve been learning and building cool projects using STEM. That stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. And guess what? STEM learning doesn’t stop in the classroom. It’s all around us, every day.

Last week, we shared some awesome stories about students using STEM to lead the way. This week, we’re asking: how do we keep that going? How do we keep learning and using our ideas to help others?

Let’s find out.

Keep Going, Keep Growing

When you use what you’ve learned to solve a real problem, it feels amazing. Some students studied air pollution in their neighborhoods. Others created apps to help people find free Wi-Fi. These weren’t pretend projects. They were real!

This month, we want to grow that energy. We’re giving students more chances to do real work that matters. That means asking great questions, trying out big ideas, and learning from mistakes. The more we practice, the more we grow.

Real Problems, Real Learning

Have you ever wondered what happens to bees when the seasons change? Or how much water do we use each day? Some of our students are finding out!

  • In one class, students are planting flowers and tracking how bees visit them. They're learning how pollinators help our food grow.

  • In another class, students are using mathematics to see how much water their families use at home. Then, they come up with ways to save water.

These projects are exciting because they connect what students learn in school to what’s happening in real life. That makes learning more fun and more powerful.

Why Reflection Matters

Learning isn’t just about getting the right answer. It’s also about stopping to think. We ask questions like:

  • What did I try?

  • What worked?

  • What didn’t?

  • What would I do better next time?

This is called reflection. And it helps students become better learners. When we reflect, we understand things more deeply and feel proud of how far we’ve come.

Looking Ahead

May is full of exciting things. Some students will show off their projects at school events. Others will share what they’ve built with their families or friends. There are big things coming and we’re cheering for every student.

But no matter what’s next, we always come back to the same goal: helping students use STEM to explore the world, solve problems, and become leaders.

So this week, we’re asking:

How can we keep learning fun, real, and meaningful?
How can we use STEM to help our communities?

Because when students lead with their hearts and minds, amazing things happen, not just in school, but everywhere.
